PARVEEN’S ANNUAL CANCER EVENT RAISES £3,000

Parveen, who organised the very first P.A.C.E sponsored walk and picnic on The Rye last year, sadly passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer. Zeenat, her daughter, decided to continue the fundraising event in memory of her mum.

Around 65 walkers took part in the 5 mile sponsored walk from Wycombe Hospital to The Rye and afterwards around 120 people enjoyed a picnic in hot sunshine. Around £3,000 has been raised for the Cancer Fighting Fund at Wycombe Hospital. Updated 17 August 2009

FOOTBALL CLUB’S CONTRIBUTION TO HELP LOCAL CANCER PATIENTS

Steve Hayes, Chief Executive of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, presented £57,353 to the Chairman of Scannappeal, Bryan Rigby, representing the total funds raised during the 2008 /2009 season when Scannappeal was the club’s chosen charity. The presentation was made at the first home match of the 09/10 season in August 2009. Updated 17 August 2009

ELVIS ALL SHOOK UP FOR 20TH SCANNAPPEAL CONCERT

Billy and the Bonquas raised the roof at Hazlemere Community Centre for their annual fundraising concert in aid of Scannappeal.

Around 130 Elvis fans spent the evening dancing to all the Elvis hits and some lesser known songs in a three-part concert which saw several costume changes by Billy ‘Elvis’ Gallacher including a brand new Elvis jumpsuit in powder blue shipped over from America especially for the event.

Around £2,000 was raised which will go to Scannappeal’s Cancer Fighting Fund for rapid diagnosis and treatment of prostate and bladder cancer at Wycombe Hospital. Updated 17 August 2009

MAGNOLIA PARK GOLFERS TEE OFF FOR SCANNAPPEAL

Twenty-Four teams of four teed off on a shotgun start at Magnolia Golf and Country Club on a rare sunny day for a Golf Day fundraiser organised by club president Alan Buckle. The day also included a dinner and charity auction with over £8,000 raised for the Cancer Fighting Fund at Wycombe Hospital. Updated 4 August 2009

SUMMER MIA COMES TO WOOBURN

Over £2,500 was raised for Scannappeal’s Cancer Fighting Fund at a special garden concert held at Magnolia House, Wooburn, the home of Elaine and Alan Ford. Over 120 music lovers attended the musical variety show, the fourth the Ford’s have held for Scannappeal. Updated 27 July 2009

‘BOTTOMS UP’ AT REBELLION BREWERY OPEN WEEKEND

Over 5,000 beer lovers enjoyed a weekend of fun at the Rebellion Brewery, Marlow Bottom. Around 15,000 pints were poured and the two-day Open Weekend event which included brewery tours and a barbeque, raised £19,000 for the Cancer Fighting Fund at Wycombe hospital. Updated 9 July 2009

SUCCESS FOR FIRST MIDNIGHT WYCOMBE WANDER

Around 500 ladies walked through Wycombe in early July, raising £51,000 for Scannappeal and the South Bucks Hospice. Fern Britton saw the walkers off on their 12.5 mile route from Adams Park. Updated 5 July 2009
