OPEN GARDENS: The Old Workhouse

Pretty far from the madding crowd of Marlow are two charming cottages and gardens which were once the core area of a Victorian workhouse. There are still some original signs of their dark history despite the closure of this chilling coldharbour back in the 1840s. Happily, the beautiful properties, still standing side by side, with their herbaceous borders, ponds, bug house, mature trees and shrubs, are now extremely desirable homes. Come along and see if you can feel the history too.
Directions: From Marlow Town Centre at The Cross Keys and mini roundabout turn into Dean Street. Then take the third turning on left into Berwick Road. The cottages are 500 yards on the right.
Parking: on verges up to the gates. Disabled drivers only on driveway.
