Scannappeal (the “charity”) is committed to treating the privacy of its supporters, website users and potential donors very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we use and protect any information you give to us or we hold on you. This policy does not cover the use of clinical data provided by patients and users of the hospitals we fundraise for as this information is held and processed separately by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

Purpose of this policy
This policy explains how we manage any personal data you share with us whether it be online, via phone, email, face to face, in written correspondence or in any other way.

You may provide us with information when you, for example:

– Register for an event
– Enquire about our work and fundraising appeals

We may obtain information from third party sources to complete a transaction or to better understand people engagement with Scannappeal and/or potential interest in supporting the charity further. Such sources include, but are not limited to:

In the context of this policy personal data means information that may be used to identify you as an individual and so can include but is not limited to:

– other information relevant to donations, Gift Aid, surveys and/or events
We do not collect personal data about our supporters unless there is a legitimate reason to do so.
How we hold and protect your data
Your data will be stored on a secure database physically located in the UK.
How we use your personal data
Use of personal data allows us to better understand your needs/ interests and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
– Provide you with information you have asked for
– Keep you updated on our work, activities or products
– Process donations or payments we have received from you
– Further our charitable aims, including fundraising activities through interaction with you
– Fulfil sales made to you online or via post
– Register and administer your participation in events for which you have registered
– For administration purposes (e.g. contact about an event you have registered for)
– Process your application for a job or volunteer role with us
– For fraud prevention, credit risk reduction or otherwise as required by law or regulation

Compliance with the law and best practice
We ensure that all of our fundraising complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 and we take note of guidance provided by the Information Commissioners Office in the application of the law.
We are members of the Fundraising Regulator scheme and comply with the Fundraising Code of Conduct at all times.
We are preparing for further changes to UK and EU law, including the General Data Protection Regulations which will come into force in May 2018, and we will communicate how these changes affect our supporters when these changes come into effect.
We will never sell or share your data with any third party.
Your Rights
You have the right to change your marketing and fundraising preference at any time by contacting the charity office.
